Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

In Response

Between stimulus and response there is a space
Viktor Frankl

He is right you know

There are those fleeting seconds when you choose

To be kind or be cutting

To smile or snarl

To encourage or crush

Those fleeting seconds
between stimulus and response

That briefest sigh of time

That space

Is where the person you really are
lives
and that's poetiquejustis

'Tis a Mystery!

'There is nothing like first-hand evidence.'
Sherlock Holmes- A Study in Scarlet

Never let living become second nature

or second hand!
Get out there!

Grab each day as the mystery it is
and search

for those things that make you
feel alive

Freya Stark
the author and cartographer
said

“There can be no happiness if the things
we believe in are different from the things we do."

Today
find the evidence
first hand

of that in which you believe-
then live it
and that's poetiquejustis

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."
Deuteronomy 29:29

Miraculous!

“There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle
The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
– Albert Einstein

A Miracle

A Miracle

A Miracle

Look in to one of these
You know what you are seeing?
That's right
A Miracle
That's you
and that's poetiquejustis
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14

Maddening!

How we spend our days
is of course how we spend our lives

Annie Dillard

Lately, I have been more aware of how I spend the gift of time

I have less patience with the trivial and the contrived
Those meaningless projects whose only purpose is self-perpetuation.

As I plod through the inconsequential

trying to reach that which truly matters

I quote Alice to myself-
frequently:

Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
Alice: How do you know I'm mad?
The Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here.

That is a real possibility
and that's poetiquejustis
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

A Step In Time

I have willed to go forward
and have not gone beyond the borders
of my grace
Saniya Salih

I am of an age where people seem to stop going forward

I decline the offer to sit still

To speak of my world in memories

I also decline the offer to rush through each moment

As though it were going to melt like ice cream on a summer day

For the hours that are consumed by idelness

hold no more grace
than those that are tossed aside in haste

Grace abides in neither
and grace is what I choose
and that's poetiquejustis

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
Proverbs 31:25

Life Beyond My Latte

A summer's disregard,
a broken bottle top
And one man's soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
Lyrics: Man in the  Mirror

when I looked up from my latte
I saw a man on the streets today

Shabby and homeless
Vacant eyes

I wondered if he was born in to a family that loved him

If he had a big sister that was so excited when he was born

I wondered about his first baseball game

I wondered about his first dog
and then

I wondered how lives can be so horribly scattered like leaves in the wind

And no one seems to notice
Today, perhaps you will notice
And the wind may cease to blow apart
a single life
just because
you noticed
And that's poetiquejustis
Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, so you do unto me.
Matthew 25:40

Like nobody is watching

You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching
William B Purkey

you got to live like it's the only life you have

you got a dream like you're the only one who can dream for you

you have to give when there's nothing left to give

Oh...and ... yes
you do have to dance like there's nobody watching

and that's poetiquejustis
    You make known to me the path of life;
 in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

Later for that!

Draw a crazy picture
Write a nutty poem
Sing a mumble-gumble song
Whistle through a comb

Shel Silverstein
A Light in the Attic

Sometimes people ask me when I'm going to grow up

I tell them I don't think I will
As I don't see that there's any percentage in it

Grownups think they know everything

They forget how to play

they are so busy getting things from the world

they forget to put things back in
That does not sound like a lot of fun to me...
How about you?

so today
let's listen to Shel and...

"Do a loony goony dance

across the kitchen floor
Put something silly in the world

That' ain't been there before"
and that's poetiquejustis

The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven
is the one who humbles himself and becomes like this child.
Matthew 18:4
