Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Life's Not Just for Company

I'm saving that to use for company
Josephine Primavera
My Grandmother

My grandmother had many pretty things

That people rarely saw

She was "saving them for guests."

But she never had any guests

Except us

But we were family, so I guess that did not count

When she passed away, all those pretty plates, and linens were still packed away

Waiting for guests
 Tell me-
What are you "saving for company"?

I mean....
What in your life are you waiting for just the right moment

to say or do or use?
I think today would be the very best day
and I think Grandma would agree
                                                  and that's poetiquejustis

Make the most of your chances to tell others the Good News.
                                                         Colossians 4:5

List-less

“He who is not contented with what he has,
would not be contented with what he would like to have.”
 -Socrates

Got one of these?

Or one of these?

Or even one of these?

 OK...

How about trading them all in

for one of these?

                                                    Now that is a list
                                                 That just keeps on giving
                                                   and that's poetiquejustis

And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for                                     one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
                                                                        Luke 12:15

I Can't Hear You....

If you ask me what I came in to this life to do
I will tell you that I came to live out loud
Emile Zola

Speak up!

Sing out!

Shout the good news that life is worth living!

Drown out the naysayers!

Drown out the cynics!

That's the spirit!
Live out loud!

And do it with joy
And that's poetiquejustis

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Psalm 98:4

I will tell you that I came to liveoutloud

Chill!

Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools
Albert Einstein

We all get angry once in a while

It is a response- a secondary emotion
But most of us discard it and get back to living

                                                                 But there are those
who wear their anger at everything
like a badge of honor

Anger that in most cases comes
clearly out of ignorance
  of facts

Because facts do not matter
What matters is keeping that bonfire of anger stoked

Stephen Hawking said:
People will not have time for you
if you are always angry and complaining

He sure had that right

and that's poetiquejustis
Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
James 1:20

What Are You Saving?

A crust taken in peace
is better than a banquet
eaten in anxiety
Aesop

There is a scripture that says
"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life"

How counter-intuitive
to what we consider
a successful life!

What if you counted your fortune
in the currency of peaceful moments

rather than in dollars?

How rich would you be?

It may be time to check
that balance sheet

and that's poetiquejustis

Said the Robin to the Sparrow:

"I should really like to know

Why these anxious human beings

Rush about and worry so."

Said the Sparrow to the Robin:

"Friend, I think that it must be

That they have no heavenly Father

Such as cares for you and me."

Elizabeth Cheney, 1859

Believable!

Know why you believe, understand what you believe, and possess a reason for the faith that is in you.

When I am not writing this blog

One way I occupy my time is as a College Professor

online

Interesting people...students.

Some of them believe very strongly about things

But they do not know why

Others just know they do not believe what their parents, professor
(fill in the blank) believes
No matter how often they hear it

That is all right
They are students
They are searching
That's why I love them

But eventually, we all have to believe in something

and understand why

Let's start here:

Henry Drummond said
The people who influence you
are the people who believe in you

so, I just wanted to say....

Now...
Share that with a friend
And that's poetiquejustis

  “I believe; help my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24

Not a Rehearsal

Man is born to live
not to prepare for life
Boris Pasternak

Planning to plan your plans

Lists of things you will start tomorrow

or Monday

or Someday

Organizing

Preparing

Until...what?

 Exactly...

Would you say it was time to start living?

I would

Life in Stitches

Time, space and lots of friends.
Jennifer Chiaverini
The Quilter's Apprentice

In that small quote, the author is talking about
what it takes to make a quilt.
Small pieces of fabric
carefully stitched together

Over time and space
with a little help from your friends

That is how you make a quilt

and that is also how
you make a life
and that's poetiquejustis

I have filled him with the Spirit of God,
giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.
Exodus 31:3

Just Before the Dawn

There is a budding morning in midnight
John Keats

no matter how dark the hour

no matter how far away the dawn may seem

even if your hope seems to vanish around the shadowy corner

and with it your cherished dream

there is light beyond that darkness

there is dawn beyond the night

If you keep moving, keep trying, keep seeking

your future will be bright

and that's poetiquejustis

"For I know the plans I have for you,"
declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
                                                                  Jeremiah 29:11
