Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Fill what is empty.
 Empty what is full
Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Where there is emptiness
fill it
but not too full
Where there is abundance
Enjoy it
But do not cling
Where there is sufficiency
Because the real blessing
is knowing the difference
and being content with all.
and that's poetiquejustis

My cup overflows.
Psalm 23:5

The First Cut is the Hardest

To have peace and confidence within our souls- these are the beliefs that make for happiness,
Maurice Maeterlinck
I have been doing a lot of cutting lately
Snipping the people out of my life who are toxic
Shearing off the unnecessary busy
Clipping the anxious thoughts right down at the root
Today can be a grand opening for you!
Just cut your way out of the useless, the frantic, and the needless
"The more you have, the more you are occupied.
The less you have, the more free you are."
Mother Teresa
and that's poetiquejustis

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will
Romans 12:2.

A happy life to a great extent must be a quiet life
for it is only in an atmosphere of quiet that true joy can live
Bertrand Russell

What is going on in your own head
Be it symphony
 or siren
There are times when you just need to turn it off
And let the happy take over
and that's poetiquejustis
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God
Psalm 46:10

All about the dandelions

Always desire to learn something useful.
It is such a useful term
As long as we realize that useful and practical do not have to be the same thing
Balloons are very useful
They make my grandkids smile
Dandelions are useful
They give you wishes to blow in to the wind
Francis Bacon said:
Choose the life that is most useful, and habit will make it the most agreeable.
Probably true, Sir Francis,
but so will balloons and dandelions
and that's poetiquejustis
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:12

Give it time

Our patience will achieve more than our force
Edmund Burke
It takes time

For bread to rise

For a tree to grow

For a flower to open

The art of living...why not try giving it a little time?

and that's poetiquejustis
But let patience have her perfect work,
that you may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. James 1:4

I'd rather be able to face myself in the bathroom mirror
 than be rich and famous.
Ani DiFranco

St Bernard said we become the reflection of that which we love

What does your reflection say about you?

When you look in the mirror,
what do you see?

A sunny day?

A stormy night?

a heart at war?

 a heart at peace?
when you look in the mirror
what do you see ?
That is a thought worthy of reflection
don't you think?
and that's poetiquejustis

As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man.
Psalm 27:19

It Had to be You

The thing that is really hard, and really amazing,
is giving up on being perfect
and beginning the work of becoming yourself.
Anne Quindelin
Being a kid is hard
Every day, someone is judging
Or watching you
And we never seem to get over that, do we?
We try to be perfect
Whose idea was that anyhow???
Well, I say we go back to the drawing board with that idea
Because the fact is
You will only be a shadow of you
never perfect
Until you are the imperfectly perfect you
you were always meant to be
 and that's poetiquejustis
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14

It Comes in Waves

“You cannot stop the waves, but you can learn to surf”
Jon Kabat-Zinn
The chances that passed you by
Or you passed them by
Or you and your chances just agreed
to go your separate ways
Do you feel lost at times in a sea of what might have been?
Then paddle out and meet today!

And enjoy the ride you are on.
That's how you turn the tide-
and that's poetiquejustis
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139:9-10
