Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

It Is a Fine Thing

Knowledge is a fine thing
Moliere
Very true
Knowledge IS a fine thing
the seeds of learning are planted there
and
Wisdom is a finer thing
because that unlocks what is hidden in the knowledge
and
Compassion is even a finer thing
and
wisdom with compassion is the finest thing of all

because that is where
the mind and the heart

have become a soul

and that's poetiquejustis
"Do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.”
Zechariah 7:10

Need a Lift?

If you would lift me up, you must be on higher ground
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today, I will smile because it will brighten your day
Today, I will laugh because it will be music to your ears
Today, I will listen a little more
because my silence will give you room to grow
Today, I will be on higher ground than I was yesterday,
and I will lift you up!
And tomorrow,
I when I must reach up to find the higher ground

I know that you will be there
and that's poetiquejustis
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself."  Luke 10:27

It Is Trying

But above all else-
try something

When our son was 13
he tried escargot
He probably never ate them again
but he tried
I respected him for that
I don't know what made him decide to try them
he just did
What do you see yourself trying?
Dance?
Marathon?
Singer?
Go ahead and try!
It can't be any worse than eating snails
and that's poetiquejustis!
Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19

Astonishing

With an apple I will astonish Paris.
Paul Cezanne
and he did
Arthur Ashe said
"Start where you  are
Use what you have
Do what you can"
Cezanne used an apple
what will you use?
that is the challenge
and that is poetiquejustis
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16

An Age of Miracles

The possible's slow fuse
is lit by imagination
Emily Dickinson
Anything that ever been built
Anything that humankind has done
Has started with:
I have an idea
and nothing you say
is going to stop me
and that's poetiquejustis
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord
James 1:5-7

Hear, Hear...

Hear the other side
St Augustine
Not just the other side of the story
Listen to
the other side of your story
the other side of your soul's story
that longs for more than this
Hear the other side
And listen
until your story speaks
and then keep listening
And that's poetiquejustis
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17

Got Our Ducks in a Row?

Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Dr Seuss
Some days you just feel different
and you don't know why
And there are those days
when no matter what you do
you get stuck in the tall grass
and you just cannot get going!

but other days...

  You know someone cares
Or there is someone to show you the way home
Those are the days when
you just know where you belong!
so all, in all, Duckie,
you really ARE quite lucky
and that's poetiquejustis
                                  For I have learned to
                                 be content whatever the circumstances.
                                                                  Philippians 4:11

The Door Ajar

Let me live in my house by the side of the road
and be a friend to man
Sam Walter Foss
Thoreau kept two chairs in his home at Walden Pond
One for himself and one for a guest
It is not the lack of furnishings that catches the mind
It is his thought to make room in his day for another
To leave the door ajar to the footsteps of passersbys
Today-
"live by the side of the road" in your mind
and make a little room for others

That is worth more to most people than you will ever know
And that is poetiquejustis
The heartfelt counsel of a friend
is as sweet as perfume and incense.
                                                                     Proverbs 27:9

Here and There

Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned
Peter Marshall
if you cannot plant a field
Plant one flower
and you will learn how to grow
If you cannot sing a cantata
Hum a few notes
and your heart will learn to sing
Enjoy the moment
Because moments add up to a life
Little things
are big things....
If you do them-
a little bit here...and a little bit there.
and that's poetiquejustis
"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much"
Luke 16:10
