Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Believe it or Not

Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness
George Santayana

I believe in you

I believe in what you can do

I believe in your dreams

In your schemes

In your plans
and in your visions

But I cannot believe alone!

Believe along with me
and watch the happiness begin!

                                                            all things are possible.

Good Cheer!

An hour's industry will do more to produce cheerfulness,
suppress evil humors
and retrieve your affairs
than a month's moaning.
Ben Franklin
Cluttered closets
Junk drawers
Files in disarray
Garages that have fallen victim to the second law of thermodynamics
What a blessing!
These are mindless ventures where you can dive in and see immediate results
Suddenly, you are once again master of your destiny
Captain of your soul
Now- you are ready to take on the world!
Georgia O'Keeffe said in a biography that she could not paint until her drawers were organized

I get that- don't you?
and that's poetiquejustis
Let all things be done decently and in good order.

Just a Little Dust Up

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Pablo Picasso
My soul got rather dusty this week
The color scrubbed away by computer screens
and meetings
and   clocks that crept at alarming speed towards deadlines
Yes....my soul got rather dusty this week
but it is Saturday
and Lyndon B Johnson said:
"Every man has the right to a Saturday night bath"
           Really! He said that.
So I am exercising my right to a Saturday bathing of the soul

And I will only look at what is beautiful
And listen to only what is sweet to my ears

Yes....that is my plan for this Saturday.....right after I do the laundry
and that's poetiquejustis

"......a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair."
Isaiah 61:3

The Art of the Lost

I am for the art of things lost
Claes Oldenberg

Recently, when we bought a house

We were able to rescue family mementos from a storage unit
And bring them home.

So many things that would mean absolutely nothing to anyone else
And yet are the bits and pieces that tie our life together

One such as this is a battered and love-worn teddy
I got for my 6th Christmas
The bear is a testimony to survival-mine and the bear's

Across the miles and across the years
we both may look a little travel weary

But, to quote the great songwriter Stepen Sondheim:

"Good times and bum times
I've seen 'em all
and my dear
I'm still here!"
and that's poetiquejustis
Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.
Deuteronomy 32:7

Skip the Drip

Constant dripping hollows out a stone.
Lucretius

It may not seem like much....

That morning traffic day after day

The constant gloom of the nightly news

The unsmiling face that is always in your face

But it can wear you down

Detour!

Stay out of the path of the dripping

and get to where the you can be high and dry!

 and that's poetiquejustis
happy heart makes the face cheerful

Gusto!!

You will do foolish things
but do them with enthusiasm
Colette
There are days when
You will order the fish and chips
instead of the salad
Do it with gusto
There are times when
You will stay up all night
reading a new novel
Don't regret a minute of it
In this life
You will love the wrong person
Wear the wrong shoes

Say the wrong thing
Do you know what that all means?
It means you are living!
and that's poetiquejustis

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
