Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

margins

Beware the barrenness of a busy life.
Socrates

I heard a great discussion about this yesterday- and I thought I would share it

The speaker talked about leaving" margins" in our lives

Areas where there was nothing but space.

I liked that image

Places you can tiptoe into

Stop a while

and breathe

Before you step back in to the blur that life can so easily become

Without those places of retreat

 Those moments of sanctuary

You will never be any more than you are right now

And as you drain and drain and drain yourself

You could become quite a bit less than who you ever were.

Today, I will not scribble on every inch of the page

I will leave margins on the page

I will not write below this line
And that's poetiquejustis
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid

The Real Deal

Once you become real, you cannot become unreal.
It lasts for always.
Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit
It's not easy being real
When you are real you get bumped and bruised and  bothered
You get lost and found and mystified
Ah, but once you are real, there is no turning back!
Because as George Bernard Shaw said
"Life is not about finding yourself
Life is about creating yourself"
So, you may as well keep it real
and that's poetiquejustis
Not that I have already obtained all this,
or have already been made perfect,
but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me
Philippians 3:12

Scales and Measures

Beware, so long as you live, of judging men by their outward appearance.
Jean De La Fontaine

I live in Orange County where size is everything
Houses and watches have to be big

Bodies and iPads have to be thin

Texts have to be brief

And salaries have to be 6 figures

Sizing it all up...... Unless there is depth to
 our thoughts,
 our love
 and our compassion
                                                     we all come up short
                                                  and that's poetiquejustis
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Matthew 6:25

In Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King

We all want to know which way to go
We all want to be great in some tangible way
We all have questions
Some find the answer
by whatever means they have
In memory of Dr. Martin Luther King
And that's poetiquejustis
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
I Corinthians 13

Succeeding at Success

"I'm not opposed to success."
Father Greg Boyle
author Tattoos on the Heart

Success is good.
In fact...
given the alternatives-

 it is VERY good

What is not good is when other people
define success for you.

That is not success.
That is living out someone's else's vision
while you follow blindly

You will never know if you have succeeded
Until you know what success looks like

Through your own eyes
Because in "success"
there has to be a

and that's poetiquejustis
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 1:1-2

Where Wisdome Lives

Knowledge is a fine thing
Moliere
Very true
Knowledge IS a fine thing
the seeds of learning are planted there

Wisdom is a finer thing
because that unlocks what is hidden in the knowledge

Compassion is even a finer thing
learning to have
wisdom with compassion is the finest thing of all

because that is when
the mind and the heart and joined

to become a soul

and that's poetiquejustis
"Do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.”
Zechariah 7:10

Batter Up

I don't compare 'em. I just catch them.
Willie Mays
Today
Life is winding up for pitch

It may come at you fast

And it  is going to have curves

Some days you just won't quite make it

and other days......
This is not the time
to be worrying about the pitch!

This is your time
You are up at bat
Make it count
 and that's poetiquejustis
Let your eyes look right on with fixed purpose,
and let your gaze be straight before you.
Proverbs 4:25
