Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Just a thought

In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts: they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty
R W Emerson

It flutters by

A thought

Intuition?

 Your destiny?

Why did you not reach out to it?

Take flight with it?

         It is a new day
Watch  and  Listen
 Perhaps it will light again
And this time you will be ready!
and that's poetiquejustis
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
                                                                      James 2:18

Amazing As It May Seem

Don't be afraid to be amazing
Andy Offutt Irwin
So what if it has never been done!
Do it!
Who cares if it has never been tried
Try it!
Write the new words
Sing that new song
Walk that new path
Do it all
Just for the fun of
amazing yourself
That is living
and that's poetiquejustis
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9

Rediscovering Ourselves in The Days of Isolation

I have to learn to be myself again- that's all
Dorothy Lessing
Just like this little girl,
I walked out of the house one morning
to go to kindergarten
certain that I understood the world
I came home 6 hours later feeling as though
I knew nothing at all

As the years went by
that did not change
because
It takes a long time to remember who you were
After you have been told
who you are supposed to be
But now,
I think I remember
and that's poetiquejustis
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Psalm 139:14

This Is Your Wake Up Call

At any given moment, I open my eyes and exist
Hegel
"Wake up in the morning and stumble to the kitchen,
pour myself a cup of ambition
yawn and stretch and try to come alive"-
Remember that old song from the movie "9-5"
We all can relate to the time we start to wake up
But when in the day do we REALLY wake up?
And what does that world look like?
What does it take?
ah...Got it...but you are wasting a lot of living
waiting for the day to end
Today- don't just get out of bed-
wake up!
Today - all of it!- is ahead of you
and
all of it is going to be an adventure that you will not want to miss
but you have to really be awake for that.
and that's poetiquejustis
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 130:6

Beacon

Every good painter paints what he is. Jackson Pollock
First, you have to

BE
      then

 BE
            BEtter
                               at
                                             BEing

BElieve in yourself and what you have to say

Let this brave life BEgin  anew every day

BEstow kindness on yourself and others

BEhave as though we are all connected

BEcause we are

No matter how old you are or how young you are

 you are a BEacon

For those who are learning how to BE

So BE it
and that's poetiquejustis
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Now is the moment

Each moment is a place you've never been
Mark Strand
How glib we are in stringing the moments of our lives together
Like so many beads
                                                         these crystalline moments
These many-faceted drops of time that collect like dew
To then become part of something else
Something bigger
Becoming our life
Each moment is a gift
Wear it well
and that's poetiquejustis
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
                                                             Psalm 139:16

Making It Rhyme This Time

To a poet, nothing is useless
Samuel Johnson
I save things- too many things some would say
A bit of ribbon that ornamented a gift from my kids...
A dried rose from our garden
The puppy collar that belonged to our Labrador Retriever-
gone now these many years
They all make up a pattern
A mosaic
Leonard Cohen said: ring the bells that can be rung
And these bits and pieces are the bell pulls of my heart
I do so love to hear them rhyme and chime!
They are the verses of my poem-
The lyrics to my melody
called Life
and that's poetiquejustis
Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8
