We must be our own before we can be another's.
Just some thoughts...
Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.
Today, I hope it is you.

Where there is mud....
We sit in the mud... and reach for the stars.
Ivan Turgenev
When life seems like a muddle
And the waters have been muddied
by the words that people say and things they do
When your boots seemed stuck and mired
And you really are quite tired
From the muddle that seems like life to you
Grab that mud and make some mud pies
Leave your footprints
Make a disguise
When your boots seemed stuck and mired
And you really are quite tired
From the muddle that seems like life to you
Grab that mud and make some mud pies
Leave your footprints
Make a disguise
Take the muddle and build a stairway to the sky!
and that's poetiquejustis
I waited patiently for the LORD;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud
and mire;
He set my feet on a rock

A Slice of Life
Give us this day our daily bread.
Matthew 6:11
Our daily bread
So much more than food
It is the slices of day between which we put our life
Sometimes it is soft and squishy
Sometimes it is crusty and hard
And sometimes it seems as though there are just
But no matter how you slice it,
This is your day
so load it up
and enjoy!
and that's poetiquejustis
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

How thin is your iPad?
Beware, so long as you live, of judging men by their outward appearance.
Jean De La Fontaine
I live in Orange County where size is everything
Houses and watches have to be big
Bodies and iPads have to be thin
Texts have to be brief
And salaries have to be 6 figures
Sizing it all up...... Unless there is depth to
our thoughts,
our love
and our compassion
we all come up short
and that's poetiquejustis
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or
drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more
important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Matthew 6:25

Do Not Write Below This Line
Beware the barrenness of a busy life.
Socrates
I heard a great discussion about this yesterday- and I thought I would share it
The speaker talked about leaving" margins" in our lives
Areas where there was nothing but space.
I liked that image
Places you can tiptoe into
Stop a while
and breathe
Before you step back in to the blur that life can so easily become
Without those places of retreat
Those moments of sanctuary
You will never be any more than you are right now
And as you drain and drain and drain yourself
You could become quite a bit less than who you ever were.
Today, I will not scribble on every inch of the page
I will leave margins on the page
I will not write below this line
And that's poetiquejustis
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the
world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid

The Good Stuff
When was the last time you went in to a restaurant
Asked what the worst dish on the menu was
then ordered it?
Not lately?
I didn't think so
so why choose the things in life that make you unhappy?
Here are your life
menu choices for today:
Column I
from the dark side of the universe
from the dark side of the universe
fear
sadness
anxiety
OR
Column 2
from Galatians 5
from Galatians 5
Love,
joy,
peace,
forbearance,
kindness,
goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness
self-control.
Choose the good stuff
And that's poetiquejustis
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:18
Note from poetiquejustis: that includes living at peace with yourself.

Dandelions and Big Red Balloons
Always desire to learn something useful.
Sophocles
Useful....
It is such a useful term
As long as we realize that useful and practical do not have to be the same thing
Balloons are very useful
They make my grandkids smile
Dandelions are useful
They give you wishes to blow in to the wind
Francis Bacon said:
Choose the life that is most useful, and habit will make it the most agreeable.
Probably true, Francis, but so will balloons and dandelions
and that's poetiquejustis
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:12
