There is no way to be a perfect mother,
and a million ways to be a good one
and a million ways to be a good one

It is the peanut butter sandwiches they remember most I think
Or the times that you helped them up so they could reach the sink
It is teaching them their first prayer
and letting them know you are there
when the monsters seem to be just everywhere!
It was the struggles over long division
Helping them make that big decision
It is letting go and it is hanging on
Those things all make a mom
It is waking up one morning to find they are quite grown
It is watching them drive away now with a family of their own
Now it is listening for their texts, and smiling at their personal ringtone
Now it is seeing life together
through the storms and sunny weather
and still smiling when you hear that "hello, mom!"
and that's poetiquejustis
