Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Shaken and Stirred

Compassion is not weakness,
and concern for the unfortunate is not socialism.
Hubert Humphrey

I have a dear, dear friend who is fond of saying he will help those in need but not the lazy
Here is the thing about "lazy"
It comes from the German laisch "weak, feeble, tired,"
Those with the stuffing kicked out
Their heart lost to the battle
Their courage long gone
Or just plain lost
Would it be such a terrible thing to reach out
 and help them back on their feet
Bless their heart

Or just help them find her way home?
We are shaken by the sight of the unfortunate,
but are we stirred to action?
Or are we just being lazy?

We find ourselves farther ahead when we help
than we do when we stand our ground and judge
and that's poetiquejustis

Matthew 25: 35-40
"‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat;
 I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink;
 I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me;
I was in prison, and you came to Me.’
 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘
Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You,
or thirsty, and give You something to drink?
 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?
‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ "
