My dad was a professor and was fond of saying
"If you are talking,
you are not learning."
He was right, of course.
He usually was.
And there is a time to be silent.
To observe and reflect
To gather your thoughts
And then to weigh what you see and hear
Doing so is responsible and good.
But once we have taken it all in
and see that there are things that just are not right
Then, silence is no longer a virtue
and speaking up just adds up
and that's poetiquejustis
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness;
instead, expose them
