Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

It Is Sow Easy

Every moment
and every event
of every man's life
plants something in his soul
Thomas Merton

Souls need tending

You do in fact reap what you sow

Continue to seed them with violence

Or worry

And a forest of gloom will arise

But sow your life in beauty

And hope

And cheerfulness

And you will see a garden of joy
That is a simple fact of nature
and that's poetiquejustis

The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
Isaiah 58:11

Taking Flight

I was flying home now...
to books, to music, to refinement,
company, and pleasures
and the dear old homestead
I love so well.

Sybyll Melvyn
My Brilliant Career

Ah- the holidays were rich
So much to do

So much to see and feel

And now as winter closes in like a cape around my soul
My "other life" is calling to me

And the obligations that I had set free

reach out
                                               to draw me home

reminding me
that here
and that's poetiquejustis
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
Proverbs 31:21

The Wonder of it all

He who wonders discovers
that this in itself is wonder
M C Escher

To wonder

To let the mind dwell in peace
and  discover

To ponder
To allow the mind to sit still upon
a notion
and absorb
Today,
as your life moves along

if only for a moment
among the harry and the hurry

give yourself a chance

to wonder
and that's poetiquejustis
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
Psalm 40:5

The Spark That Never Dies

Our brightest blazes of gladness
are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks
Samuel Johnson

Seeing your grandson's first paper airplane take flight
and remembering the day his dad's did the same

Watching the midnight moon shine through your kitchen window

and being grateful for a home

Finding a plant that was wilted and sad

and being encouraged that it has found the will to live

Having someone who wants to hold your hand

And having someone's hand that you want to hold

Those are the brightest blazes of gladness
in our lives
And those are the sparks that never die
And that's poetiquejustis
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens
James 1:17

Who is in charge here?

All happiness depends
upon a leisurely breakfast
John Gunther

Well, at least the attitude
with which you eat your breakfast
can tell you a lot about yourself

Are you a moveable feast
Calling this a "balanced meal"?

If you are- you may have already lost control of your day.
Time is managing you!
Take charge!
Tell the day who is boss!

Hum this little ditty of Joni Mitchell's while you do
"Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning
And the first thing that I knew

There was milk and toast and honey

And a bowl of oranges, too

And the sun poured in like butterscotch
And stuck to all my senses"
Now- the day is yours!
And while you are at it..
consider some food for the soul

And that's poetiquejustis

I Wish I Could Say the Same

I have never been hurt
by something I did not say

Ah...  I wish I could say the same
But I cannot

The 'thanks yous' forgotten

The 'I love yous' left unsaid

The 'well dones' left silent

All of these have hurt me
All of these have diminished me

But no more!
Never again
will I be hurt
by things I did not say!

Frederick William Faber said:
Kind words produce much happiness,
How often have we ourselves been made happy by kind words,
in a manner and to an extent which we are unable to explain.

That is so true in my life
and I know in yours as well

and that's poetiquejustis

Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:24

Food and Fire

A house is no home
unless it contains food and fire
for the mind
as well as the body
Margaret Fuller

and the soul!

do not forget the soul!

A home must be a place
where the soul can find peace

And the body can find rest

Because that is the only home

That can stand the test

of time
and that's poetiquejustis
And let the peace of Christ
rule in your hearts
Colossians 3:15
