The time has come the Walrus said
To talk of many things
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax
Of cabbages and kings
Lewis Carroll
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Last night, we had one of those spectacular moments of
grandparenting
Our grandson's Christmas pageant
He goes to a wonderful private school
Where there are beautiful children of beautiful parents
Our son took pictures and was proud and happy
But I know his mind strayed during the evening to other children
Because tonight, he and his colleagues will host a party for 300 homeless kids
Kids who live in hotels and cars and sometimes on the street
Kids whose parents love them just as much as he loves his kids
Kids whose parents love them just as much as he loves his kids
They will get toys, and fun and food
and they will make gifts for their parents
as they make a new friend
Because kids who have it a lot better than they do will be their hosts
and kids will just be kids
and they will learn
that homeless is not a disease
and they will talk of many things
and it will be Christmas
and that's poetiquejustis
