Physical strength can never permanently withstand
the impact of spiritual force

A parent is up half the night with a sick baby
…and then goes off to work
A Marine carries his buddy to safety though the exhaustion overtook him five miles back
A writer rises before dawn and types and types never knowing
if the words will ever make a difference and then goes to her “real job”
It is the strength of spirit that keeps each going
It is a strength that does not come from those hours at the gym
It is a strength that comes from the solitude
Just you and what needs to be done
And the knowing
The knowing that this one thing in life must be done by you
And no one else
All those things- big and small
That no one ever sees
You go on.
... you just do it
No matter what
