Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Two for the Road

I don't want to be a passenger in my own life
Doris Ackerman

I do  not want to see life through a window

I do not want to hear life through others ears

I do not want to feel life through another

I do not want to cry others tears

I want to feel life in my own way

Though I  may choose to share it with you

I want to pedal along in this journey of mine

But there is always room for two
and that's poetiquejustis

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated,
but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.
                                                                       Ecclesiastes 4:12

And when is there time?

And when is there time to remember
to sift
to weigh
to estimate
to total?
Tillie Olsen

Young people racing to get ahead

Older people racing to keep up

No people keeping count

of what is happening

Rich people racing to spend

Poor people racing to earn

All people caught in the race
when are we going to learn?

Today
Stop!

Sift!
let time run through your hands for a minute

and see how it feels

Weigh your priorites

Estimate where these have a place in your life
then make your next move
and that's poetiquejustis
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

Let me tell you a story

The world is made up of stories, not atoms
Muriel Rukeyser
What do you see here?

I see a thousand stories in motion

What do you see here?
I see millions of people getting ready to face another day

A story

Many stories

Lives

Not data

Not demographics

Not a target market
 People

with stories
That is worth remembering
and that's poetiquejustis

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves
Philippians 2:3

Chilling Words!

Be nice to yourself
Julia Cameron

Recently, someone (who does not know me)
said
some rather mean things about me
and someone else
felt the need to tell me
kind of gave me a chill

I am surrounded by so many loving people

That I forget the "others" are out there
But they are

for all of us.

And try as we might to ignore them
they still put a chill in our otherwise sunny day

So, my advice?
Be good to yourself
 and to each other
and watch the chill

just fade away
and that's poetiquejustis
Kind words are like honey--sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 16:24

The Dark Secret

Come forth in to the light of things
William Wordsworth

I am not a big fan of secrets

Unless there is a cake and a stack of presents involved

Have you ever worked at a place where everything is a secret

They call it "siloing" these days

"Need to know"

My guess is that corporate America has just read too much Tom Clancy
Bring it out in the light!

Collaborate!
Don't just talk "team"

be a team

and that's poetiquejustis
The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
Matthew 4:16

Seen

Make visible what, without you,
may never have been seen.
Robert Bresson

See

What is good in others

And tell them

See

The beauty around you

And share it

See

The importance of each moment

And live it

First
See
and then

and that's poetiquejustis
However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--
I Corinthians 2:9

A rose by every other name

It will never rain roses
When we want more roses,
we have to plant.
George Eliot
I guess this is on my mind because we gave
six rose bushes a home last week

It was a good fit-
they needed a bit of earth
and wanted to share our yard
It took some work
It took some plannning
It took some investment of time and money
but all good things do

We are still learning about our roses
what they need and where the thorns are
but just like life,
planning, investing yourself, and learning
gives you the rewards you seek

-and that's poetiquejustis
The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
Isaiah 35:1
