Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

But above all else-
try something

When our son was 13
he tried escargot
He probably never ate them again
but he tried

I respected him for that

I don't know what made him decide to try them
he just did

What do you see yourself trying?

Go ahead and try!
It can't be any worse than eating snails

and that's poetiquejustis!

Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19

By faithfulness we are wound up
into unity with ourselves
St. Augustine

Mother Teresa said
Be faithful in small things
for in them your strength lies

and that's poetiquejustis
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one
II Thessalonians 3:3

In The Morning

Tis always morning somewhere in the world
Richard Henry Horne

Somewhere, your hope is waiting to be found

Somewhere, your dream is waiting to dance with you

Somewhere, the yesterdays are gone and the todays are everlasting

Somewhere, it is morning, and you can begin anew

And that's poetiquejusis
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,
Psalm 130:6

The Voices

Every house has a voice
Liz Seymour

The cries in the middle of the night

The slamming of doors and the pounding of sneakers

The car keys in his pocket for the first time

The sound of the click of her first high heel shoes

The silence when they are all gone

 replaced by

The sound of your own thoughts as you begin anew

Every house has a voice
and every voice has its time
And that's poetiquejustis

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Ecclesiastes 3:1

From Start to Finish

The way of the sage is to act
but not to compete

I won my first spelling bee

 in First Grade

I won my first poetry competition
in 6th grade

In other words...
I got competition in to my blood pretty early

But then I grew up

And realized that competing in life

Meant running someone else's race
For a prize of their choosing
 Just to make sure
that other people lose

Now, where's the fun in that?
I bet I can get where I want to go
without worrying if you get their first!
and that's poetiquejustis
Let everyone be sure that he is doing his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work well done and won’t need to compare himself with someone else.
Galatians 6:4

Talent is always aware of its own abundance
and is not adverse to sharing
Alexander Solzhenitsyn

"I know a guy who can fill the day

telling you about all he has done
that no one else can do"

"It must get kind of busy

Running the spotlight "

and standing in it

all at the same time"

You know what they say...
sharing is caring
give a little credit to others sometimes
You will be a hit!
and that's poetiquejustis
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
Philippians 2:3

"Everything about him was old except his eyes
and they were the same color as the sea
and were cheerful and undefeated"
E. Hemingway
The Old Man and the Sea

Walking along the beach today
and I saw a very old man leaning on his cane
watching the young guys surfing

He was still- very still
and the morning breeze seemed to simply  move around him
so as not to disturb his thoughts

Was he seeing the waves he had caught,
or those he had missed?

The things that he had accomplished
or those he had left undone?

Or was he looking beyond the horizon
for the next wave of his life-
young once more?

I could not help but wonder
and that's poetiquejustis
"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions"
Joel 2:28
