Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

At Ease

Let us be poised, and wise, and our own today
R W Emerson
Let the thunder roar around us
Let the seas beat against our shores
Let those who wish us ill make their plans
Cast their nets and
Shake their fists in fury
Let the wind lash against our windows until the house fairly shakes beneath our feet
Until the  trees are stark and bare
It does not matter
because today
..
We will be poised, and wise, and our own.
and that's poetiquejustis
No weapon formed against you will prosper
Isaiah 54:17

Taking Chances on the Wing

Necessity is the mother of taking chances

Mark Twain
Today I met a hummingbird
He hovered by my face
Wings beating the air with frantic grace
And he bid me follow
He waited there as long as he could
He wished me no ill and only good
And he bid me follow
But I stood rooted like a tree
Afraid to move - afraid to see
What might be there if I agreed
To follow
And so with one last fleeting glance
He rose in the air and with him my chance
To follow.....
Perhaps he will find me again
and time and duty will tell me when
to follow
And I will soar with graceful ease
and the hummingbird will say
"now if you please....
follow"
and that's poetiquejustis
But as to the suitable times and the precise seasons and dates, brethren, you have no necessity for anything being written to you.

Over My Shoulder....

Life can only be understood backwards;

but it must be lived forward

Soren Kierkegaard
Over my shoulder, life keeps getting dimmer
As the days slip behind
Opportunities seem slimmer
Sun setting on the chances?
No!
No backward glances
Forge ahead!
By your heart be led!
With the future case your lot
And then (of course) give it all you've got
and that's poetiquejustis

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men
Colossians  3:23

And So To Speak

Better to illuminate than merely to shine;
to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to contemplate.
Thomas Aquinas
Has life taught you a lesson?
Then Think
And think again
Now speak!
Speak softly and kindly
But speak
What you have learned of life is a gift that is to be shared
It a smooth stone added  to the path for those who follow
It is a light for their journey that perhaps only you can give
So speak!
and that's poetiquejustis
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14

The One Sided Argument

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing
Walt Disney
Both sides of the coin
Both sides of the argument
Both sides of your brain
You can toss it
Debate it
analyze it it until it crumbles
but in the end
The only way to get it done
Is to get it done
and that's poetiquejustis
Don't let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don't help people live a life of faith in God.
1 Timothy1:4

Here's Hopin'

A whole stack of memories never equals one little hope
Charles M. Schulz
Marvin Hamlisch called them
"misty water colored memories
of the way we were. "
Memories -
good
and bad
Have only one thing in common
They dwell in the past
And hope never visits there.
Hope, my friend,
is in the here and now.
That is worth remembering
and that's poetiquejustis
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
