Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Another Thought on Hope

 A strong mind always hopes
and always has cause to hope.
Thomas Carlyle
Hope
Victor Frankl tells us loss of hope
is harder to overcome than loss of the material
Hope
It is that belief of Annie's in the sun coming up
Hope
It is what gets us out of bed
It keeps us searching for answers
Keeps us believing in our dreams
Hope is the greatest gift we can give to the day
And that the day can give us in return
Hope
is what I hope for you
today
and that's is poetiquejustis

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promises is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23

Power and Purpose

"To live happily is an inward power of the soul." ~ Aristotle

Cakes are made from the outside in

Buildings are built from the bottom up

Make up brushes on

 and washes off

 ah..but joy....

and happiness....

and freedom from fear
only comes from living from the inside out
Today...take inventory
What is powering your soul?
Does it feel like this?
or this?
 Choose your power
and that's poetiquejustis
Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more
than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—
infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.

Skating Through Life

We live amid surfaces and the true art of life is to skate well on them

Emerson

When I was about twelve, I got my first pair of ice skates.
We lived in New Jersey which is not exactly the center of the skating world,
but there was an IceOrama or something like that at the mall
and my parents signed me up for lessons.
I loved it.
I loved the cute little skirts and the swish of the skates.
I loved the grace and the power of the skaters.
There was only one problem.
I could not skate and I could not seem to learn.
I would watch kids much younger than myself
do figure 8’ s
and pirouettes.
I would usually watch this from a sitting position either on the bench or on the ice-

as I seemed to have fallen quite a bit.
It occurred to me years later that it was neither the skates nor my inexperience that held me back.
I just did not trust the ice.
I was moving on a surface as alien as the moon
and I was so unsure of it that I never connected.
Life can still be that way

.                                                               The ice seems thin

                                        …the rough spot seem frequent

…and there are dangerous bits of black economic and emotional ice where it is the least expeced
But this time, I am ready.
I am lacing up my skates
and I will take the ice as it comes.
 and that's poetiquejustis
My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything. James 1:2-4

Let The Sunshine In

And all the windows of my heart
I open to the day
John Greenleaf Whittier
The sunshine of smiles
The mist of tears
The winds of change
The fog of sadness
The chill of pain
The warmth of love
I will make a room in my heart for all
And welcome each as a friend
They are all a part of living
and that's poetiquejustis
.... for I have learned to be content in whatever situation I am in.
Philippians 4:11

Me and Mr. Grump

I forgot to shake hands and be friendly.
It was an important lesson about leadership.
Lee Iaccoca
There is a man I see when I go walking
He is probably in his 80's
and a bit of a grump
For one solid year,
My dog and I have  said hello and smiled whenever we saw him
No response
But we would not give up
He grumped right by us every day
And we just kept giving him a big hello
The other day,
 he just gave up
 he smiled!
He said good morning!
It felt like Christmas!
and that's poetiquejustis
A cheerful heart is a good medicine
Proverbs 17:22

What Ya Gonna Do Now?

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do
John Wooden
Here is a little free life coaching that will go a long way
The next time you decide on something that needs to be done
 Catch how often you say
"I won't do this.....
"I don't like doing that...

"That is just not my style"

Now...
Hit delete
Now list all the things you will do
You can do
You must do

 You will do
Note: It does not matter if you "like" doing it
now
(and this is key)
do them
It is said that successful people are the people who do the things they do not like doing
and do them well.
and that's poetiquejustis
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us
Hebrews 12:1
