Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

It Is Rubbing Off On Me....

It is good to rub and polish our brain against that of others.
Michel de Montaigne

Some people are going to rub you the wrong way

They get your back up

Your feather’s ruffled

And who wants to walk around like that?

Better idea?
Consider it an invitation to a spa

Since it is going to happen anyway-
you may as well put it to good use

a treatment for the psyche

Use the “rub” to get rid of a callous on your heart

Or a dry patch in your soul

Just think of it as life’s little loofas

a spa time for the soul
and suddenly....there is peace

Prayer of Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

Time's Up

"You may delay, but time will not." ~Benjamin Franklin
It is just a matter of time

That call you have to make

Those words that must be spoken

That road you have to travel

Someone gave me a great perspective on those “inevitables”
It is simply a matter of

What do you gain by putting it off?
Do you need a little push?
The burden gets no lighter as the days pass because it saps your strength
The road ahead only gets darker
The water deeper and more dangerous

Happiness, courage, and freedom cost
So when are you going to pay up-
And move on

Now or later?

This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

This Business of Living

Confidence is everything in this business.
Reese Witherspoon

May I add something to that?
Confidence is everything in this business

of living

It pushes us forward

It fills our heads with wonder

and our heart with power

Did you know that confidence means to do with faith?
So, go!
Live a life of faith

Henry Ward Beecher said:
Every tomorrow has two handles.
We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith.
Go! Open the door
and do it with faith!

Take Your Medicine!

I always want to know what's wrong with you, why you ain't smiling.
That's just my character; I just love people and want to see people having a good time.
Wyclef Jean

Since we are going on to the Season of Hope and Good Cheer

I did a little research on smiling

My findings?
Smiling is the cheapest medicine on the market

Now, don't go emptying your medicine cabinet,
but here are the benefits of smiling:
Smiling  reduces stress and anxiety for both you
and
(bonus!) the people who have to look at you

Smiling releases natural pain relievers in to your body

Smiling lifts your mood so it fights depression

Smiling lowers blood pressure

and it boosts your immune system

Warning:
Side effects:

it makes you seem more in control and more attractive to others than the sour pusses around you

Smiling makes you look younger (natural face lift!)

Smiling, even when you are talking on the phone changes people's perception of what they hear and are more likely to receive it well.

and people give bigger tips to people who smile

So take your medicine!
Smile!

This Railroad Runs on D and D

  • Decision and determination are the engineer and fireman of our train to opportunity and success.~Burt Lawlor
         Decision        and         Determination
are the engineer and the fireman
of our train to opportunity
                                                                         Burt Lawlor

We are picking up family at Union Station today
and no one (including Amtrak) seems to be certain of what time it will arrive.

But it is heading down the track nonetheless

That train is not pondering when it will arrive
or even if it will arrive
or whether it should arrive

Decision and Determination
are running that train, and there is no stopping it now.

There may be obstacles

                                                          There may be rough weather

and the way may get a little narrow

                                                      But Decision and Determination

are going to keep that train running along the tracks
until they bring it on home

Because Decision and Determination know what matters is not when you arrive
What matters is that you keep on going until you get there.
