Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.....
Rogers and Hammerstein
When I am living my life away from poetiquejustis
I write about things that are not so pleasant
It's my job.
So there has to be a place in my mind where I keep the pretty things
A place where I can run to and take a deep breath
A place where there are "raindrops on roses
 and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles
and warm woolen mittens."
Where do you go when the proverbial "dog bites and the bee stings.....when you are feeling sad?"
We all need those secret places in our mind
Filled with light and loveliness
Far away from headlines
and the deadlines
and the pain that people cause each other
Do you have that place?
Today, wish you a place  favorite things that will keep your mind at peace.
and if you cannot find your own...I am happy to share some of mine
and that's poetiquejustis
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5

Happy to Meet Me

The only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are,
and not who people think you are.
Goldie  Hawn

 It ain't easy being me

It would be a lot easier to be you

Because then I could do

 everything you do

But if I say the things that you say

And always feel the way you feel

Then there would never be another me

At least never one that's real

So....I think I will just give this me thing a try

and that's poetiquejustis
For everything created by God is good,
and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
 1 Timothy 4:4

Here's Hopin'

A whole stack of memories never equals one little hope
Charles M. Schulz
Marvin Hamlisch called them
"misty water colored memories
of the way we were. "
Memories -
good
and bad
Have only one thing in common
They dwell in the past
And hope never visits there.
Hope, my friend,
is in the here and now.
That is worth remembering
and that's poetiquejustis
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

The Fuse of the Possible

The possible's slow fuse
is lit by imagination
Emily Dickinson
Anything that ever been built
Anything that humankind has done
Has started with:
I have an idea
and nothing you say
is going to stop me
and that's poetiquejustis
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord
James 1:5-7

Come out, come out, whoever you are

A cocoon is effective only as a means of change
Kathleen Norris, From Acedia and Me
I used to have a little friend (now a grown up attorney!)
who would cross her baby arms and say
"no looka me, no talka me. no toucha me!"
The kid knew how to cocoon!
Hiding away from the world has its time
 And it has its place
But when we are once again ready to face life

                                                                  We should step out big!
We should emerge!
Refreshed and full of vibrancy
 Otherwise...we were just hanging around!
and that's poetiquejustis
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Bold Beginnings

This is no time for ease and comfort
This is the time to dare and endure
Winston Churchill
I have two paint canvases leaning against my desk
They have been there now for two years- pristine
They get dusted and they get forgotten
Perhaps they receive my wistful glances
But they remain as blank as the day I brought them home
I have done them an injustice
If I had left them for another to buy
Perhaps someone bolder than I would have taken up a brush
And dared to fill them
Today leans against your life
an empty canvas
Be bold
Be brave
Don't ignore your empty canvas
Begin to boldly fill  today
with life
and color
Me?
I am going to paint
and that's poetiquejustis
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

All You Have Got

And what he greatly thought
he nobly dared.
Homer
It would be nice if we could spend all of our day
adding to the scholarly body of knowledge
and the betterment of mankind
but as it happens-
We all have things that must be done
The milk and bread must be bought

The gas tank filled

The lawn mowed
but all thoughts, all deeds, all moments of life
no matter how seemingly mundane
can still be called great and noble
if we give them our very best
and that is poetiquejustis

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor,

it is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 3:13
