Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

On A Hill Far, Far Away

I have had some lovely, extraordinary experiences
on New Year's Eve
Debby Harry

When our Labrador Retriever Morgan was still with us
and we lived in the hills of Southern California

She and I would leave the house at dusk on New Year's Eve
And walk the hills

We listened to the silence and said good bye
to the good and bad of the year before

It was a fine way to see the old year out
and the new year in

Morgan is no longer with us
I live by the sea now
and those hills are many miles away

But tonight at dusk I will find a hill to walk
and remember....and forget....and
wish you all the very happiest of New Years
That just seems like the right thing to do
And that's poetiquejustis

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Sit This One Out

I love it, I love it- and who shall chide me
for loving that old arm chair
Eliza Cook

We are closing in on the New Year

We are poised for the sprint

We are gearing up for the dash

We are resolved

We are renewed

We are...exhausted!

Where did we ever get the idea
that we could make rational decisions about the coming year
while we are still de-toxing from
Christmas overload?

Sit....dream...gather your thoughts
Find a friendly chair

and give yourself a moment
 and that's poetiquejustis
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Isn't That Extraordinary!

In the right light, in the right time, everything is extraordinary
Aaron Rose

Come out from behind  your own shadow

And you will be in the right light

Understand that now is all you have

And you will be in the right time

Determine not to be ordinary

And you are already extraordinary!

                                                              K A Laity said:
“We have one precious life: do something extraordinary today,
even if it's tiny.
A pebble starts the avalanche.”
and that's poetiquejustis
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.
Walk as children of light

Outta Your Way!

Only those who risk going too far
can possibly find out how far one can go
T S Eliot

What if....someone told you
That you could not  do the things
 that may make you successful
Would you let them get away with that?

What if....someone told you
that you could not eat
healthy food and exercise

Would you let them get away with that?

What if... someone told you that you could not
be kind to all living things
even if it means putting yourself out a bit

Would you let them get away with that?

What if.....you are the person
telling yourself all those things
Are you going to let yourself get away with that?

Of course you are not!
You are too smart for that!
And that's poetiquejustis
Jabez called out to the God of Israel: "If only You would bless me, extend my border, let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not cause any pain." And God granted his request.
1 Chronicles 4:10

Being a bit brave

It takes courage to grow up and become  who you really are
e e cummings

Not who you were told you are

not who thought you wanted to be

not who you thought you would never be
be brave and be
 who you are!

and that's poetiquejustis
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous--how well I know it.
Psalm 139:14

The Weaver's Tale

Expectancy is the atmosphere for miracles
Edwin Louis Cole

I am expecting a lot from today

and tomorrow

and the year to come
I will expect, demand, and accept
the good things that come my way

And the not so good

The wanted

And the "......could have done without that"

and I will treat them all as threads of gold and silver and scarlet

That I will weave in to something magnificent
because that is how a miracle is born

What will you do with the threads of your days in the coming months?

Let's meet right here next year

And we will share our miracles!
and that's poetiquejustis
"For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20

A Longfellow Christmas

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
    Their old, familiar carols play,
        And wild and sweet
        The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Very few of us know that this poem was written

during the American  Civil War

No wonder Longfellow's pen had turned to thoughts of peace

And the familiar comfort of the Christmas Bells.

peace may seem for you today as elusive as it did for him
   in the midst of war
For we all battle something
in fact, Wadsworth also said:

 and so this Christmas day
Seek peace and pursue it

Stop, and hear the music of the Christmas Bells

If only for a moment
and
If only in your heart

Do you feel it?

That is the joy of Christmas!

And if you receive it
It is yours to have and to hold

And that's poetiquejustis

And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
Psalm 35:9

Moving Back the Boundaries

Nothing on earth is more gladdening than knowing we must roll up our sleeves
and move back the boundaries of human possibilities once more
Annie Dillard

Today is Christmas Eve- for many the eve of Hope among us

But for some- hope seems as distant as the stars
So...every Christmas Eve, our son and a few dozen of his closest friends
Go to a section of the city where the lost and the homeless live

And they turn it in to a Winter Wonderland

They bring food, and gifts, and music and hope

They roll up their sleeves and turn the darkest of corners

In to the brightest of scenes
Eventually,
The food is eaten
Dreams are shared

but what perhaps stays behind
is a bit of hope

that will grow and grow and grow
breaking the boundaries of human possibilities
once more
for us all

and that's poetiquejustis

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Romans 15:13
