Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Value Added

A little bit added
to what you already have
gets you a  little bit more
P G Wodehouse

Just one more kind deed for another person

Makes your life a little bigger

Just one smile for a heart that needs one

Makes your own heart a happier  place

Just one more place at your table for a lonely friend

Makes your humble home a mansion

Give a little to get
A beautiful life...
it doesn't take much
and that's poetiquejustis
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in
Matthew 25:35

Seasons of Grace

You cannot get grace from gadgets
J B Priestley
It is the season of the infomercial
All those things that will make our life better
Make jobs go faster
Not to mention immediately dispose of the effects of a year of cheeseburgers and fries...
Fair enough....
But let's also make it a season
when we make a real cup of cocoa
and share it with a friend
When we write a note to someone far away
When we bring the light back to a child's eyes
Then it is a season filled with grace
and that's poetiquejustis
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthian 1:3

Tasting Life

Seek not greatness, but seek truth and you will find both.
Horace Mann

I have been wondering what all the fuss is about

Name in lights

Cover of a magazine

Red Carpets and flashing bulbs

 Thoreau said:
"Rather than love, than money, than fame,

give me truth."

And Byron said:
"Fame is the thirst of youth"

Wait....
I have it!

Perhaps my tastes have changed!
that is the truth
and that's poetiquejustis

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Mark 8:36

Kindness

Kind words do not cost much yet they accomplish much

Blaise Pascal

It only takes a word or two

if they are sincere

if they are not just in passing

if they come from your heart

to make another person feel

real

Just think!

You can make someone feel real today!
Just by taking the time to say something kind!

That is amazing

and that's poetiquejustis

Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land
Proverbs 25:25

Not Quite Ready to Begin

You can never get a cup of tea large enough
or a book long enough
to suit me
C S Lewis
It is that wonderful time of the year
The sigh between Christmas
and the New Year
The moment when all is done
And nothing is quite ready to begin
A time when slippers are the footwear of choice
and the fireside is the 'destination'
So, have some tea
Open a book
(put away your phone)
The busy will be back
soon enough
and that's poetiquejustis
The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest."
Exodus 33:14

In The Road Again

As you start to walk out on the way
the way appears
Rumi

Everyone knows where they are going

because

there are only two directions

forward

or back

Behind you is the empty space
of yesterday
and things no longer real

Move forward

and the way
will appear

and that's poetiquejustis
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6

I Heard the Bells

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
    Their old, familiar carols play,
        And wild and sweet
        The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Very few of us know that this poem was written

during the American  Civil War

No wonder Longfellow's pen had turned to thoughts of peace

And the familiar comfort of the Christmas Bells.

peace may seem for you today as elusive as it did for him
   in the midst of war
For we all battle something
in fact, Wadsworth also said:

 and so this Christmas day
Seek peace and pursue it

Stop, and hear the music of the Christmas Bells

If only for a moment
and
If only in your heart

Do you feel it?

That is the joy of Christmas!

And if you receive it
It is yours to have and to hold

And that's poetiquejustis

And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
Psalm 35:9

and then to make a difference
