Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Cloudy with a Chance of Hope

Life...it tends to respond to our outlook,
to shape itself to meet our expectations.
Richard M DeVos
Your life is your open book to which you are daily adding  the pages

The stitches you place upon the fabric of your life
that passes through your hands every day.
You are the memories that you carry
                                                                     and the memories you make
It is all in how you see it
                                                                    and that's poetiquejustis

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
                                                         Psalm 19:14

Begin Now

The best you can be
The kindest you can be
The most peaceful you can be
The most generous you can be
the more life you will live
Winston Churchill said
We make a living by what we get
We make a life by what we give
So...start
 now
Are you ready?
Go!
And that's poetiquejustis
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal"
Matthew 6:20

Play Nice with Others

The world is so full of suffering-
and it is also the overcoming of it
Helen Keller
Bad things happen
Good people step in
unkind words hurt
Kind words seek to help
Bad can take away so much
Good can give so much back
Today-
Go...be good to one another
and that's poetiquejustis
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21

Sweep Me Off My Fears

The thing to do is grab the broom
and drive off the beast of fear
N.Houston

Get busy
Get moving
Get some miles under your feet
and some sky in front of your nose
That is how you put the fear behind you
and that's poetiquejustis
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

Threads of Life

 Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern;
it will come out a rose by and by.

Life is like that - one stitch at a time taken patiently and the pattern will come out all right like the embroidery.
 ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

I love doing needlework
The feel of the thread
The sound of the needle as it passes through the fabric
The picture that emerges from the rainbow tucked away in my sewing box
Of course, there are times when
I miss the mark and I have to rip out stitches
with the same patience with which I put them in
Other times my needle seems to fly across the fabric
Mr. Holmes was correct-
life is much the same
The fabric of your life....the threads of your relationships....the pattern that you choose.
Somewhere in there is you
and that's poetiquejustis

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future
Jeremiah 29:11

Hold That Thought

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations
Louisa May Alcott
Yes...
I see them
far away in the sunshine...
yet I seem to be bound  to a desk...and work...and the petty worries
that masquerade as life
But my mind!
My soul!
My highest aspirations
Will never be bound by the gray of the day to day
and I will join them-

my highest aspirations
far away in the sunshine
and that's poetiquejustis
Romans 8:39

Unleashed

You will often meet with characters in nature so extravagant
that a discrete poet would not venture
to set them upon the stage.
Lord Chesterfield
I am a professor, so I meet extravagant characters all the time

The fellow professor who wants nothing more than to help others learn
or else...
The student who wants to try their wings
but doesn't quite know yet which way is up
The artist lost in their work

The poet lost in their words

The writer of the Great American Novel...
who may just be losing it

The scientist who has lost it so that the rest of us can find it

They all stroll through academia
A breed unto themselves
And we are all better off for it
and that's poetiquejustis
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Proverbs 9:9

Rise Again

To me every hour of light and dark is a miracle.
Walt Whitman
Light rises
Darkness falls
Hopes rise
  and when they do-
just keep rising with them
and don't look down!
 and that's poetiquejustis
Christ in you, the hope of glory
Colossians 1:27
