Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Pace Yourself

Can you just imagine....
Hooves thundered all around him
and he just moved on
Howls, and squeals and screeches filled the air
and he just moved on
The world looked nothing like it had before
 and he just moved on
and then...he was there
Now...if he could make it to his goal-
what's stopping you?
and that's poetiquejustis
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14

Did You Know...?

To succeed in life you need two things:
ignorance and confidence
Mark Twain
It is not what you know
It is not even who you know
It is ignoring what you think you do not know
Until  you do what you thought you did not know
until you know it-
and what you thought you did not know
gets you where you want to go
and that's poetiquejustis
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7

What does it take?

The important work
of moving the world forward
does not wait to be done
by perfect people
George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)
They say it takes a village
I say it takes you
And me
And anyone else ready to show up
And do the work
That's how it gets done
And that's poetiquejustis
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27

Just a Trickle

Life begets life; energy begets energy.
It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich
Sarah Bernhardt
Got a drop of time?
Give it away
and watch it pour
Got a trickle of hope?
Spread it around
 and it will gush
Physics reminds us about the truth of potential energy
You are a universe of potential energy
What are you waiting for?
let it rip!
and that's poetiquejustis
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
Philippians 2:17

No Cape Required

In a world where there is so much to do
I felt strongly impressed that there was something for me to do.
Dorothea Dix

The bystander effect

Someone else will do it

Someone else will speak up

There are heroes for this sort of thing, right?

Yes there are
And that hero is standing in your shoes
and that's poetiquejustis
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment more important than these two.”
Mark 12:30-31

There is nothing more precious in this world
than the feeling of being wanted
Diana Dors

To belong

To be welcome

To have the chance to dream

To have the right to know and be a part of something larger then yourself

To know your mind and speak it
To have a place to call home

These are the things that everyone wants
These are the things everyone needs
That's not so much to ask
and that's poetiquejustis
Then my people will live in a peaceful habitation,
And in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places
Isaiah 32:18

Now You See It

Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.
Jonathan Swift
There are those they call "at risk"
Men, women and kids who are close to slipping through the cracks
 Some who already have
Some make it in to the light
And others fade away
But in every case what made the difference to this world
Was that someone saw
And then did something about it
That is vision
And that's poetiquejustis
The greatest sin  is to see someone in need
 and do nothing about it.
Billy Graham

The Many and the Few

If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.
John F Kennedy
Are we over it yet?
Are we over the idea that those who are poor are lazy?
Are over it yet-that the homeless want to be homeless?
Are we over the idea that those out of work do not want a job?
Are we ?
Let us  hope so, because those who are poor, unemployed and homeless are not the enemy-
they are our fellow countrymen and women

William Butler Yeats said:
"But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
                                                                       and that's poetiquejustis

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
Matthew 25:35
