In Praise of Junk Drawers

 My superpower is hanging on to things for years

and then throwing them away a week before I need them.

I see junk drawers as a safety valve

 

One less decision to be made right now

 

One less piece of history to be discarded

 

And you can even convince yourself that you are helping the environment

Of course, it does catch up with you 

And there is a day of reckoning. 

 

When our emotional junk drawers

need to be emptied.

Today may be the day

 To give yourself a brand new start.

That's a thought that should not be discarded
