Rocky Road

Has the road been a little rocky?

Have the seas been a little rough?

Has the going be an uphill battle?

Has this living thing been a little bit tough?

Stop taking yourself so seriously!

And give the world a grin

If you maybe tell a joke some time

You will find that you might win

The love of those around you

Who need someone to smooth the way

And your road will be smooth

And your seas will be calm

As you all  go along your way

Life, Where Am I Taking You?

 

They will say you are on the wrong road

if it is your own

There are those who tread the same path

Even if it leads nowhere

And they will tell you to follow

Because that is the way everyone has always gone

And they will sing the same tuneless song

Because it has always been sung

And ask you to sing along

But you!

You strike out upon a glorious new road

The song is yours to sing

The words are yours to say

This life is yours to live

So what is stopping you

I read a line in a Dick Francis book once that stuck with me

"All around her was an island of peace."

What does the "island" around you look like?

Is it cluttered with the fruit of bitterness?

or the fruit of love and kindness for the picking?

Littered with angry thoughts and memories?

or have you captured the glow of happy memories?

Overgrown with fear and suspicion?

or a place of order and calm?

What messages are you sending from the island of your life?

When people sail near, 

do they fear the rocky shores 

or are they grateful for the safe haven?

It is your island

Make it a peaceful place to dwell  and visit

a place of comfort for yourself and others  

The world could use that right now

Hope Overflowing

 

You have to fill your cup. You then give away the overflowing,

 but you keep a cupful for yourself.
