How many times have you"decided" you are going to

exercise?

Eat right?

Write an essay?

Save money?

and every time you find yourself very quickly back at

Maybe it is time to stop just making decisions

and start making some progress

Do what you say you are going to do

for as long as you have to do it

to get done what you told yourself

that you are going to do

Well?   When was the last time YOU sang?

When was your heart so overflowing that it spilled out in song

And it had to put to melody?

When was the last time you sang just because you wanted to sing

You needed to sing

There was so much life in you that you just had to sing

sharp, flat major,minor, blues or rap

it does not matter

what matters is that you feel the life within you

and your sing it out

On my list of things to do?

Get rid of my list of things to do!

I am replacing it with :

My "I Have Done It" list

Not just things crossed off a list

Not even a tshirt!

I mean a real list of all that I accomplish in a day

I mean seriously! 

 Take a look at all you do!

Make a list!

When the Sharp is Flat

Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed

When you play the blues, sometimes the C chord becomes a bit more interesting

if you let the 7th note go flat

You have built a good case for that chord all the way up the scale

A good strong C   a resounding E and a smack 'em down G

And no matter how you turn it around-

It is  still the same chord

It is sounding strong, and it is sounding very clear

But what makes the listener remember is if you throw in a B flat  at the end

It is like taking a bow and stepping away

When we try to make our point with people, 

 we need to learn how to let that last note go flat

Leave a little room for the imagination

and a lot of room 

for harmony

That is my note about having the last word

Chasing the Sunshine

I live at the beach

And those pictures you see of  our sunny Southern California mornings

Exist only in the mind of some PR firm in Manhattan

Our mornings are usually "socked in"..".marine layered"...

And all the other other mariner euphemisms for dull, stubborn grey,

But we bear with it because eventually...

The sun is going to win

The sun comes bursting through the clouds with all the drama of an action hero

The sky instantly submits to being blue

And we forget that the clouds were ever here.

Today- if things seem a little cloudy and grey,,,,

Remember-

Choose To Grow
