Pride is a strange thing
It grips us
And holds us back
It shuts us off from the new and the bold
Because we don't want to make a mistake.
What we really are saying is that we do not want to look silly

Or do a heart transplant
Or being the first in your family to get a diploma
The only mistake is doing the same thing
over and over
That gives us the same bad results
