Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Recovery!

Make your own recovery your first priority in your life
Robin Norwood
Save the earth
Save the whales
Save the oceans
 heck!
Save your coupons!
All good
But first- save youreslf
Everyone needs a break now and then
and that's poetiquejustis
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Psalms 62:5

The Turnaround

When I started counting my blessings,
my whole life turned around.
Willie Nelson
Afraid you are not getting a piece of the pie?
Bake your own slice of life and enjoy it!
Afraid the parade is passing you by?
Grab a big bass drum and head off down your road.
You are as happy as you want to be
You have as much as you think you need
 now
is the time to be grateful
because you have it all
and that's poetiquejustis

                                Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
                                         His love endures forever.
                                                                   Psalm 107:1

A Little Late for Father's Day...but just in time for summer

The fragrance of the grass speaks to me
and my heart soars
Chief Dan George
I live in California now, so spring turning to summer does not mean quite what it did back East
It pretty much always looks this way out here.
I am not complaining but...
Back East, the coming of Spring meant something
Like going barefoot
Buttercups and dandelions
And my dad mowing the grass
I still cannot smell newly mowed grass without thinking of him with his old U S Navy ball cap
and a look of complete concentration as he made those rows perfect
My Dad was a renowned scientist, but this was where he put his heart -
in to his home and to his yard and in to his family.
Because we were a military family, we moved often
But Dad always made our yard special
Walt Whitman said:
I believe a leaf of grass is no less then the journey work of the stars
Dad agreed
and so do I.
Go!
Celebrate summer!
Plant something and help it grow.
and that's poetiquejustis
The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field
Psalm 103:15

On Hold

There cannot be a crisis today
my schedule is already full
Henry Kissinger

 Places to be
People to see
Shopping to do
Work to get through
Books to be read
mouths to be fed
Laundry to wash
Oh my goodness- my gosh

 Be brave-
be
 and today
put the world on
at least for a little while
and that's poetiquejustis
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
Mark 6:31

The Most Common Things

Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way
Booker T Washington
A tiny garden
The folding of the laundry
The writing of a seemingly useless report
The holding of a hand
The drying of a tear
The most excellent moments
are often the most common
and that's poetiquejustis
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin
Zechariah 4:10

Thoughtfully

If you realized how powerful your thoughts are
you would never have a negative thought
Peace Pilgrim
Just like a room you have painted
or a picture you have put on a wall
Your thoughts create the environment in which you live
Do your thoughts create a storm
 or a haven
think about it....
and that's poetiquejustis
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Luke 6:45

Where the stars are hidden

Reach high for stars lie hidden in your soul
Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal
Pamela Vaull Starr

reach
higher
your star is there
wherever you are
 know your star
\
and be the one
who reaches
and that's poetiquejustis
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Isiah 40:26
