Just some thoughts...

Every day, as I write Poetiquejustis, I pray it will be a blessing to someone.
Today, I hope it is you.

Star Light

The sight of the stars makes me dream.
Van Gogh

There is clearly more to life than meets the eyes

Beyond  our gates

Beyond our understanding

Dreams that set us upon a journey
and dreams that lead us home

The important thing is that you see them
and that  you follow

and that's poetiquejustis

Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.
Isaiah 40:26

Set Sail

What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves?
Thomas Merton

by all means-

Navigate!

Trim the sails!

Chart your course!

But there comes a time when you need to loose the ropes

And simply drift

To see upon what shores your unfettered mind will land

Perhaps you will be surprised at who you find there...
perhaps it will be you
And you will have a friend for the future voyage

and that's poetiquejustis

The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind,
and on its circuits the wind returns.
All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full;
to the place where the streams flow, there they flow again.   Ecclesiastes 1:6-7

There Are Two Ways

Still round the corner there may wait
a new road or a secret gate
Tolkien
We have two gates at our home
One in our front yard - a white picket fence that surrounds a nicely trimmed and flowered yard
Then there is the one that is in our back fence. It leads to a wilderness canyon
I like that
Every life should have pickets and thickets- don't you think?
Wishing you the peace of the garden
  the wild of the canyons
and the ability to enjoy them both.
And that's poetiquejustis

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27

Where Are You Running Off To?

I ran breathlessly toward impossible goals.
Sue Bender
I did not know the goals were impossible

I never thought to ask

where we were all going in such a hurry

I am not sure that I would have cared
because the running became the goal
Just kept running

And trying to reach

some phantom finish line

And then one day my breath caught up with me
and the sigh I released ask "why"?

And when I could not answer
I stopped running

and I began to live
and that's poetiquejustis
“Slow down. Take a deep breath. What’s the hurry?
Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway?"

Fair Winds

A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are made for
John A Shedd
I live in  a seaside village and many things here inspire me
But none more than the sight of a tiny speck of a sailboat far out toward the horizon
While others just rock and sway in the harbor
I ask myself- "so, what's it going to be, sailor?
You choose.
Tied safe in the harbor
Or grabbing the compass and seeing what there is to see in life?"
I made my choice!

Now, how about you?
 and that's poetiquejustis
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you
that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
Deuteronomy 30:19

The Purpose of Purpose

"Special things happen when you walk on purpose."
John Carney
You have to start somewhere
And the path may not always be smooth

There will be times when you feel very alone
And the way not be clear at all
That's when you have to remember
your dream
Your vision

But most importantly-
your purpose
And then....
 just keep walking
By the way...

 ruby slippers are optional
 but purpose is not
and that's poetiquejustis

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose

A Storied Life

Tell them stories.
Phillip Pullman

I wish I knew more about my grandmother's life
as a little girl in Italy

Did she walk along the beach

or take a little boat out at sunrise?

Did she dream of places far away?
What did she feel when the day came for her to leave her Island?
Or the day she arrived in the United States?
Was there family to meet her?

Or was she a face in a crowd, all alone?
Was she following a dream?

Sadly, I never asked her.

so I will never know.
So I will remember to tell my story
to my grandkids

even if they never ask me
because someday, they will want to know.
And someone will want to know yours as well.
  and that's poetiquejustis

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.”
Luke 8:39
